New York Itinerary

New York has got to be one of the most fun vacations you can go on. There are SO MANY places to see and things to do, you literally will never run out of activities. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, this isn’t the one for you. If you’re looking for city life and an exciting vacation full of adventure and subway rides, then this is YOUR trip! I went on this vacation while four months pregnant with Rozzi and had the time of my life. So if I can do allllll of these things while pregnant and sick, think of how much more fun you will have being completely full of energy!! What made this trip extra fun was that we traveled with two other couples and it was a BLAST. We have no complaints about a couple’s vacation! The one drawback of this trip though... it is hot as Hades in New York the month of August and I will most likely NEVER go back again at that time. It would be even more fun during the fall! Other than that, it was the perfect vacation! Here is everything we did in our stay with allllll the details.

PRO TIPS:

  • Get a subway pass that lasts for one week, you will be rushing to make subways and you definitely don’t want to miss it trying to buy a pass for that ride.

  • Make a list of your must-see places and stay in a hotel or Airbnb that is near these areas. You definitely DO NOT want to be wasting a big chunk of your day hiking into wherever you’re activities take you for the day. 

  • WEAR COMFY SHOES. Seriously, forget the brand new sandals or fancy shoes you just bought. Leave them home. Buy a cute pair of sneakers, wear them in for a week, and then plan on wearing those the whole time. Having painful feet will ruin your trip.

  • Be aware of where you’re keeping your valuables. Unfortunately pickpocketing is a thing, so just be aware of your surroundings. 

  • ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES! (Something I seriously struggle with.) I can almost guarantee you’ re not going to see everything you want to see, and there will be setbacks on any vacation you take. Just enjoy the journey!!! And HAVE FUN!

DAY 1:

  • We  flew into JKF and got to our Hotel around 3:30, we stayed at the Marriott Marquis right in Times Square and it was the PERFECT location if you’re wanting to hit the most amount of places and activities in your trip. 

  • Dos toros - super trendy and fresh yummy food

  • Walked through Time Square. You will probably do this several times and each time is as exciting as the first! So much to see and take in. 

  • Magnolia Bakery in Grand Central Station and walked around the station and surrounding area. GET THE BANANA BREAD PUDDING. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

DAY 2:

  • Breakfast at Bread and Butter - They had tons of breakfast options, juice bars, bagels, bagel sandwiches drinks snacks protein bars and a place to sit. Great start to a long day!

  • 9/11 Memorial - This was the HIGHLIGHT of the trip. It is the most amazing memorial I have ever seen. This is something you do NOT want to miss. Plan on spending several hours here.

  • Walk the High Line! Its a super cool unused train track above the roads, overgrown with beautiful trees and plants and just a beautiful little walk. 

  • Lunch at Chelsea Market. There are about a million options, but we ate at mok bar ramen which was so so good. 

  • Walk the Brooklyn Bridge! We took the subway to the far end and then walked back. It was so fun and beautiful! 

  • Milk Bar for a little afternoon treat.

  • Patsy’s pizza for dinner! So yummy. 

  • The rest of our group went to Governor’s Island after this but at this point, I was feeling so nauseous from pregnancy sickness and headed back to the hotel, but the other couples LOVED it!

DAY 3:

  • To start off our day we went to church at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

  • Levain Bakery! There are a couple locations in New York so just plan to grab them if you’re near it! These cookies are infamous and a must do activity!

  • Shopped in So Ho and visited a few cathedrals. This took most of our day/afternoon and it was so fun to just walk around the city! 

  • Grabbed lunch at a random burger place that I wouldn’t recommend, called Burger Heaven. 

  • Dinner back at our hotel

  • Lion king musical!!! Please plan at least one musical while you’re in New York. It is absolutely amazing. 

DAY 4:

  • Quick breakfast at the hotel

  • Top of the Rock! The view is so freaking cool. We got the sun and stars pass so that we could go up again at night when it got dark which was even more cool. 

  • Lunch at sweet green - best salad place ever.

  • Little treat at Grom, a gelato shop near Central Park at Columbus circle. Really good sorbet and gelato, I got mango and apricot sorbet with whip topping

  • Biked around Central Park! We rented bikes which was super cheap and did a big loop around which took about an hour or so! 

  • Jacobs pickles for dinner. This is a MUST DO. So good but you must make reservations before your trip! 

  • Top of the Rock again but at night! 

  • Magnolia bakery pudding - Again! There’s another location right next to the Rockefeller Center. 

  • The rest of our group went to Governor’s Island after this but at this point I was feeling so nauseous from pregnancy sickness and headed back to the hotel, but the other couples LOVED it!

And that’s a wrap! As you can see we really crammed in a lot of activities. This was possible because we planned ahead! I hope this itinerary helps you plan your first or next trip to New York!
